Amelioration of hyperglycemia by Rubus occidentalis (black raspberry) and increase in short-chain fatty acids producing bacteria

•Rubus occidentalis (RO) ameliorates hyperglycemia induced by high-fat diet (HFD).•RO alters gut microbiota, increase in the abundances of Bacteroides, Butyricimonas, Ruminococcus, and Mucispirillum genera are remarkable.•Significant alterations in the gut microbiota correlate with glucose profiles.
