Long-term potentiation like effects induced by quadripulse magnetic stimulation in Parkinson’s disease patients “off” and “on” medication states

Background: Previous studies in human using non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) techniques such as theta burst stimulation (TBS) or paired-associative stimulation (PAS) demonstrated the loss of motor cortical LTP-like plasticity in PD patients “off” medication state and Levodopa restored motor cortical plasticity. Quadripulse magnetic stimulation (QPS) is a newly reported NIBS technique and to show less inter-individual variability than other NIBS techniques. Effects of QPS on PD patients have not been studied.
