Evaluación económica de la cirugía de la pared abdominal

The goal of this study is to highlight the importance of the information provided by the surgeon in the patient's hospital discharge report in the process of economic evaluation of the surgical episode, applied to abdominal wall surgery. The discharge report, legally obligatory, is the basis for the completion of the Minimum Basic Data Set. This group of data will be processed automatically obtaining a classification of the activity that in our environment is grouped in the Diagnosis-Related Groups. The Diagnosis-Related Groups are economically valued and updated periodically. Moreover, they not only allow to evaluate the economic impact of the processes carried out but also the complexity of the surgical episodes that they group. It is important for surgeons to know and be part of the process that will allow evaluating in real economic terms the magnitude and complexity of the work done. This knowledge allows the comparison within the service or unit in different periods, as well as with other centers that treat the same type of pathologies.
