MEUS DIAS, MINHA SAÚDE: ESTUDO LOCAL SOBRE A REALIDADE SOCIAL E OS CUIDADOS COM A SAÚDE DE TRAVESTIS E TRANSEXUAIS EM MATO GROSSO

Several studies point to the conditions of vulnerability to which the trans people (transvestites and transsexuals) are imposed, to the detriment of not being identified with the gender of birth and breaking with heteronormative patterns of gender and sexual orientation.Thus, the present study investigated the social reality and health care of this population in the cities of Cuiabá and Várzea Grande.To do so, we used participant observation as a method and conducted 9 in depth interviews.In order to collect the information, we use field and interview diaries, as well as audio interviews.After the information was collected from the trans population, we were able to systematize the most recurrent data and articulate it with other authors, enabling a theoretical discussion that encompasses findings from this population elsewhere.In general, the population studied faces difficulties in accessing formal work, choosing prostitution as a subsistence alternative, a large part of them live in hostels with other transvestites and suffer prejudices in various contexts, among which we highlight school, public transportation and health services, which, for the most part, do not respect the social name.Based on the reflection proposed in this research, we consider that it is pertinent for health professionals to train on a continuous basis about the aspects of sexual diversities, avoiding the perpetuation of prejudicial and exclusionary behaviors, and that the process regarding the use of the social name is rethought, also in the perspective of avoiding exclusion and suffering between transvestites and transsexuals.
