MDM2 Amplification Levels Are Not Correlated to the Degree of Dedifferentiation and Metastatic Potential in Well Differentiated and Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma
Pathology(2018)
Abstract
Aim: MDM2, a gene consistently amplified in well differentiated (WD) and dedifferentiated (DD) liposarcomas (LPS), is an oncogene that inhibits the p53 pathway. Fluorescent in situ hybridisation (FISH) of MDM2 is reportedly the diagnostic gold standard for WD/DD LPS. However, the prognostic utility of this biomarker is less well established. This study aims to examine MDM2 amplification as a predictor of dedifferentiation and metastasis in LPS.
