Research of Archaeological Sites in Vyshnia River Basin in 2014-2015

The Vyshnia River basin is one of interesting regions for the modern archaeological science because it was one of the most important contact zones of the ancient cultures of Eastern and Central Europe. Archaeological sites studied in this area are Zarichchia 4, Berehove 2, Oselia 5, Oselia 15, Khorosnytsia 6, Dernaky 4, Sarny 1, Maksymtsi 11, Myshliatychi 7, and Kniazhyi Mist 11. They can uncover a lot of valuable material to study the development and interrelations of three significant archaeological cultures of Central Europe: Thracian Hallstatt, Lusatian and Vysotsko cultures which is of paramount importance for determining ethnogeny of the Western Ukrainian population.The present paper is just the first attempt to summarize «without delay» the field achievements of the recent two years, as this region within the borders of Ukraine was «a white spot» in archaeology till recently. However, now the authors can state confidently that a breakthrough in the discovery and research of the ancient population of this territory is made. Still, this is just a beginning of a search for answers a series of scientific questions and for solving the applied problems.
