Clinical Dilemmas with Cancer-Associated Splanchnic Venous Thrombosis in Current Oncological Practice: a Case Study

Introduction: The diagnosis of splanchnic venous thrombosis (SVT) has increased over the last two decades with routine use of computed tomography (CT) scans, especially in patients with cancer. The clinical presentation of SVT may range from acute life-threatening abdominal symptoms to unspecific chronic symptoms or even as an asymptomatic incidental finding in scheduled CT scans.
