Abstract
•Microcapsules containing a biofriendly alkyd resin were employed to induce self-healing ability in a commercial epoxy coating.•The properties of the coatings were decreased with increasing in microcapsule contents.•EIS and potentiodynamic polarization tests confirmed the self-healing ability of coatings containing microcapsules.
