Direct detection of multiple pesticides in honey by neutral desorption-extractive electrospray ionization mass spectrometry

•It is first report on detection of multiple pesticide residues by direct mass spectrometry.•The sensitive neutral desorption-extractive electrospray ionization mass spectrometry method was developed and validated.•3 organophosphorus insecticides and 2 carbamate insecticides in honey was detected.•The honey sample without any pretreatment for the detection, and the analytical time for each sample was only 30s.
