We proceed from the actual seismic data, combined with geology, use the high resolution time-frequency analysis method to divide the sedimentary facies and to determine the possible reservoir of every facies, all of these are very important to improve the success of the nearshore subaqueous fan exploration. We use a kind of improved generalized S transformation. Relative to common time-frequency analysis method, it has higher time-resolution and frequency-resolution, then it has a good recognition ability for the division of deposition period, and the validity of the method is verified by forward simulation.
