age 30.2 yrs.6/10 had previously been asked to provide a stool sample; of these 4/6 provided a sample, 2 described the process as "very difficult." 2 who did not provide a stool sample,1 due to embarrassment and 1 stated they were barrier nursed.7/10 preferred a rectal swab opposed to standard stool sample when an inpatient; 8/10 preferred a rectal swab when an outpatient. Conclusion: Patients with CF often suffer from diarrhoea when taking antibiotics, often attributed to the antibiotics. There is often a reticience to provide stool samples looking for presence of C. diff. Results show when a stool sample is sent it is +ve in > third of cases. Many find providing stool samples embarrassing and/or difficult. It appears performing rectal swabs may be more acceptable and may increase uptake in providing samples in this cohort at risk of C. diff.
