Ti-6Al-4V alloy modification by laser interference lithography

This paper presents the study of Ti-6Al-4V alloy modification by two-beam laser interference. In this work, two-beam laser interference was used to pattern groove structures on Ti-6Al-4V alloy surfaces, and the laser fluences with different exposure durations were applied to the process in the air. The roughness and contact angle of the surface were studied before and after the laser interference lithography (LIL) treatment. The results showed that the surface with groove structures increased the roughness to around 1μm and reduced the contact angle to around 44 °. MG63 cells were cultured on the polished and grooved surface. The SEM images showed that the cells were grown along in the direction of the grooves and randomly oriented on the polished surface.
