Beating Heart Mitral Valve Chordae Implantation in Severe Mitral Degenerative Regurgitation

Objective: Implantation of artificial chordae for mitral valve reconstruction has gained widespread use; although estimating length of chordae is sometimes crucial in cardiac surgery with cardioplegic arrest. Beating heart chordae implantation offers intuitive echocardiographic visualization of corrected mitral valve prolapse as well as avoidance of extracorporeal circulation with cardiac arrest, potentially resulting in lower morbidity and mortality.
