The nursing observation of midazolam on the agitation of children who received sevoflurane anesthesia before MRI examination

Objective To observe the preventive effect of midazolam on the agitation of children who received sevoflurane anesthesia before MRI examination.Methods 60 children were randomly divided into two groups namely group M and group C(30 in each group).The children of group M received midazolam orally,while those of C group received 10% glucose.The incidence of postoperative agitation,MRI examination time,eye opening time,and the time to leave the post-anesthesia care unit(PACU) were observed and recorded.Results For the group C,the incidence of agitation,MRI examination time,eye opening time,and the time to leave the PACU was 50%,(32±8)min,(10±5) min and(29±6)min,respectively;for the group M,the incidence of agitation,MRI examination time,eye opening time,and the time to leave the PACU was 13%,(33±6)min,(11±4)min and(28±5)min,respectively.The incidence of agitation was higher in group C than that in group M,there were no significant difference of other indexes between the two groups.Conclusion The incidence of postoperative agitation of children after sevoflurane anesthesia could be decreased by midazolam.
