Afferent connections of the dorsal, perigenual, and subgenual anterior cingulate cortices of the monkey: amygdalar inputs and intrinsic connections.

•Retrograde tracers were injected in dorsal, pregenual, and subgenual ACC of monkeys.•Amygdalar labeling patterns were similar between dorsal and perigenual ACC.•Accessory basal nucleus was densely labeled from the subgenual ACC.•The subgenual ACC received inputs from the perigenual, not dorsal, ACC.
