Serum metabonomics study of the hepatoprotective effect of amarogentin on CCl4-induced liver fibrosis in mice by GC-TOF-MS analysis

•Metabonomics technology was further performed to evaluate the endogenous metabolites profiling systematically.•We find nine biomarkers to elucidate the drug mechanism of amarogentin.•We find the hepatoprotective mechanism of amarogentin may be related with pathways of amino acids metabolism and fatty acid metabolism.
