Bowel cleansing before colonoscopy is currently based upon oral administration of lavage solutions of polyethylene glycol (PEG) or NaP with large amounts of fluids ingested in a splitted manner. This prospective randomized study compared a split-dose PEG cleansing protocol and a new method of bowel cleansing by low-pressure water infusion into the colon (Prep System, Angel of Water - Lifestream®, Austin, TX).
