Implementation of the driver training curriculum in Spain: An analysis based on the Goals for Driver Education (GDE) framework

•Implementation of the driver training curriculum in Spain is studied.•The study is guided by the Goals for Driver Education (GDE) framework.•A specific questionnaire (DTCI sale) is developed for this purpose.•More emphasis is placed on operative and tactical aspects of driving.•Less importance is placed on risk-prevention and metacognitive skills.
