Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder scan own-race faces differently from other-race faces

•We examined whether ASD children scan own- and other-race faces differentially.•ASD and TD children look longer on the eyes of other- than own-race faces.•ASD and TD children look longer on the mouth of own- than other-race faces.•Children with ASD are sensitive to face race information.•ASD is not an all-encompassing face-processing deficit.
