Non contact measurement of thread’s holes using video systems

The paper presents the result obtained by the authors in non-contact measuring of various holes drilled into an aluminum shell. The image is taken using a CCD camera with 1280x1024 pixels resolution. The image is then saved in an. jpeg file. Many data processing images are applied to the original image in order to obtain the value of the surrounding hole's circle. The image and the measured data are then saved in a database for further use. The measuring device has been integrated into a larger equipment that comprise a PLC component with HMI device, an linear moving axis and mechanical devices for image commissioning. The human operator can instruct the equipment to perform an automated cycle of motion and detection or may use the manual mode, which is suitable for testing.
