A Case Report of Benign Multicystic Mesothelioma of the Douglas Pouch
The Journal of the Japanese Society of Clinical Cytology(2010)
摘要
We report an extremely rare case of benign multicystic mesothelioma (BMM) focusing on fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). A 28-year-old woman undergoing abdominal ultrasonography was found to have a multilocular lesion of the Douglas pouch. FNAC smear results showed numerous sheets of mesothelial-like cells without atypia, together with scattered isolated metaplastic squamous cells with single pyknotic nuclei. These findings yielded a diagnosis of BMM. FNAC smears can thus be made based on laparoscopic findings.
