AN OPERATED CASE OF SYNCHRONOUS TRIPLE CANCER

A case of synchronous triple cancer of the rectum, esophagus and stomach was experienced. A 72-year-old man underwent resection of the lower rectum with a diagnosis of rectal cancer (Rb). This was in stage II(al, n(-), PO, HO, M(-)), showing the histological feature of well differentiated adenocarcinoma. The second carcinoma, an esophageal cancer, was diagnosed about one month after the first operation. Biopsy specimen revealed squamous cell carcinoma. He underwent lower esophageal resection with reconstruction by esophago-gastrostomy. The third carcinoma a IIa type gastric cancer was very small, therefore strip biopsy was performed. Triple carcinomas seen in the literature are discussed.
