•A total of 66 Mycoplasma spp. positive herds were identified in Israel (2004–2014).•Sixty herds were positive for M. bovis during this period.•Sequence type 10 was the most dominant M. bovis genotype identified by MLST.•M. bovis is the main mycoplasmal mastitic pathogen in Israel.
