摘要
This paper evaluates the efficiency of IP packets transmission in narrowband networks based on the RRC 9210 tactical radios. Based on measurements performed in the laboratory test-bed environment, we examined the user throughput for selected length of UDP datagrams under AWGN channel. We determined BER characteristics vs. channel attenuation. We also found the thresholds of BER, when the data rate of the radio interface drops automatically as a result of the increased channel attenuation. We mapped the BER to the data rate of the radio interface. We found that the maximum throughput offered to the user amounts to 9,1 kbit/s. We also noticed, that the optimum size of UDP datagrams is equal to 512 bytes. Based on these results, we assessed the efficiency of the RRC 9210 tactical radios in the IP-mode.
