Study and simulation of behavioral decision-making model of through bicycles passing vehicles at signalized intersectio

Interferences between vehicle flow and non-vehicle flow at a grade intersection are mainly induced by the crossing behavior between bicycles and vehicles. In this paper, according to the conflict danger degree, vehicle-bicycle conflicts at a 4-leg intersection are classified into 3 groups using the fuzzy cluster theory; the behavior of through bicycles crossing right-turn motor vehicles on neighboring lanes is used as the case study. The factors affecting the crossing behavior are analyzed, including the bicycle speed before crossing and the acceptable Gap. Then a decision-making model describing bicycle crossing behavior is built by the logistic regression model. Finally, based on the model, the Multi-Agent simulation system of the through bicycle crossing right-turn motors is built, the simulation results show that the behavioral decision-making model is reasonable, and the simulation system is validated. © 2009 ASCE.
