Crystal structure of [1-Oxo-3-hydroxyl-3-arylpropyl]ferrocene

The target compounds were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra and 1H NMR spectra. The crystal and molecular structure of C20H20FeO3 was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The unit-cell is triclinic, space group P1 with a=7. 441(2), b= 9. 326 (2), c=13. 157(3) ?, ��=96. 85(2), ��=103. 94(2), ��=102. 31(2)��, V=851. 6(8) ?3, Mr=364. 23, Z=2, Dx=1. 42 g/cm3, ��=8. 97 cm-1, F(000)=380. In the molecule the planes of cyclopentadienyl rings are perpendicular to the plane of phenyl ring and parallal to the plane of carbonyl and methene.
