Primary gastric non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphoma. A report of 83 cases

Eighty-three cases of primary gastric non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphoma were operated upon in our hospital over the past 36 years. The diagnostic accuracy rate preoperatively was 37% (31/83). There were 6 cases with stage I disease, 27 stage II, 21 stage III and 29 stage IV in this series. The 5-year survival rate after radical resection was 90% which was higher than the 33% for gastric carcinoma. The survival rates at 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20 years were 48%, 38%, 21%, 10% and 8% respectively. Infiltration of gastric serosa may be the main factor that influences adversely the prognosis.
