Spectroscopic properties and structure of the complex copper(II)-N,N' -Bis(2-carboxylphenyl)-2,6-pyridine dicarboxamide

In this article, UV-Vis and fluorescent spectra showed that the molar ratio of Cu2+ to N,N'-bis(2carboxylphenyl)-2,6-pyridine dicarboxamide(BCPD) in ethanol solution is 1:1 (pH=7 similar to 8), the stable constant was determined to be K=(4.59 +/- 0.05)x10(6) mol(-1).L. A copper(I) complex [Cu(II)(BCPD)](2-)center dot 2[(C2H5)(3)NH](+)center dot CH3OH has been synthesized by the reaction of Cu(II) to BCPD in methanol. X-ray analysis and elementary analysis indicated that the molar ratio of Cu2+ to BCPD is 1:1. The complex crystallized in a monoclinic system with space group P2(1)/c, a=1.290 90(12) nm, b=1.855 19(19) nm, c=1.752 31(16) nm, beta=122.920(2)degrees. The complex is five-coordinated through nitrogen atoms of the central pyridine ring and the deprotonated carboxamide groups and carboxyl groups, and has coordination geometry of distorted tetragonal pyramid.
