Effect of Altering Nutrition Supply on Yield and Ear Traits of Maize

In order to study the effect of cutting leaves, cutting roots and cutting leaves and roots on the yield and ear traits, four maize varieties were used under three different densities. The results showed that there are same trend of the effect on fertile length, grains per ear, 1000-grain weight and yield from different treatments; the degree of the effect was as follow: cutting leaf and root cutting leaf cutting root CK; the degree was increased with increasing density. The effect on fertile length and grains per ear had additive influence, but the effect on yield and 1000-grain weight wasn't significant among different treatments. Under low nutrition supply condition, 1000-grain weight was superior to getting the nutrition.
