摘要
Another Case of Acute intestinal Pseudoobstruction (Ogilvie's Syndrome) following Retropubic Radical Prostatectomy: Ogilvie's syndrome is a well-described severe disorder of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by acute massive dilation of the caecum, ascending and transverse colon without evidence of mechanical obstruction. We report a case of acute pseudoobstruction of the colon (Ogilvie's syndrome) which occurred after radical retropubic prostatectomy. Although Ogilvie's syndrome is a rare entity following retropubic radical prostatectomy, early diagnosis and initiation of adequate treatment is necessary to avoid life-threatening complications, Untreated colonic obstruction may result in perforation and peritonitis, Early colonoscopic decompression in combination with nasogastric and rectal tubes as well as the use of drugs to stimulate peristalsis is an effective and successful approach, decreasing the high morbidity and mortality rates.
