摘要
A method for precise calibration of high energy electron beams is presented. The method is based on the kinematics of elastic scattering of the beam electrons by fixed target electrons. A conceptual setup is presented and the main sources of systematic errors are discussed. The feasibility of the method was investigated for LEP beams at the energies 46.5 and 80 GeV. The results obtained show that the beam energy at LEP can be measured with an accuracy of ±(1–2) MeV in the energy range from 45 to 100 GeV.
