Prucalopride (PRU) is Safe and Generally Well Tolerated in Elderly Patients with Chronic Constipation (CC)

Purpose: Constipation is a common disorder in the elderly and there is a need for more effective and better-tolerated drugs that normalize bowel motility. The efficacy and safety of PRU, a novel, highly selective, specific serotonin-4 receptor agonist with enterokinetic properties was assessed in elderly pts (age 65 and over) with CC in a multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.
