Differentiated MPLS Services (DMS) Architecture with QoS Recovery

The Internet is evolving from best-effort service toward an integrated or differentiate service framework with Quality of Service (QoS) assurances that are required for new multimedia service applications. IP/MPLS based control plane combined with wavelength-routed Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed (DWDM) optical network is viewed as a very promising approach for realizing future re-configurable transport networks. We propose a framework for QoS guarantees based on Differentiated MPLS (DMS) service model and QoS recovery schemes against intrusion-induced faults in All-Optical Transport Networks (AOTN).
