Structure Elucidation of Two More Metabolites of 7,8,9,10-Tetrahydroazepino-[2, 1-B]quinazolin-12(6h)-one, A Potent Bronchodilator: Part Ii

In vivo metabolic studies of 7,8,9,10-tetrahydroazepino [2,1-b]quinazolin-12(6H)-one, a potent bronchodilator have been carried, out in rhesus monkeys and rats, in order to see whether this activity is due to the parent compound or due to its metabolites formed. Structure of these metabolites have been established by UV, IR, H-1-NMR, C-13-NMR and mass spectral data. The structure assigned to these metabolites have been further confirmed by their partial synthesis (Scheme I and II). Finally the bronchodilatory activity of these metabolites has been studied in comparison to its parent compound and it is observed that none of the metabolites show any bronchodilatory activity.
