摘要

Despite recent advances in medical radiology, the emergence of PET-scan technology and the development of less invasive puncture techniques, surgery remains the gold standard for mediastinum exploration. Since its creation at the end of the 1950’s, mediastinoscopy has regularly and progressively evolved. Whatever the techniques, a real valuation of the mediastinal locations is feasible nowadays. This chapter describes the different techniques for mediastinum surgical investigation, usual indications and contraindications, in addition to main complications.
