Zhiyu Chen

ZhiYu Chen (SM'98) received the B.E. degree (with high honors) in engineering physics and the M.S. degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1994 and 1997, respectively. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). His area of research was plasma science and technology. He has authored or coauthored seven journal articles and numerous conference papers in that field. In late 2003, he switched his research interest to the field of digital image processing and computer vision. He is now with the Imaging, Robotics and Intelligent Systems (IRIS) Laboratory at UTK. Mr. Chen was a recipient of the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society Graduate Student Award in 2002. He also serves as a Reviewer for IEEE Transactions On Plasma Science.
