His scientific focus is on the environmental behavior of organic chemicals and engineered nano-particles, the synthesis and applications of porous adsorbents, and the remediation of contaminated soils. To date he has authored more than 70 technical journal articles with ISI citations of more than 3000. His research works were financed by a number funding including National Outstanding Youth Fund. He is a professional and technical talent in state environmental protection and a New Century Excellent Talent in Universities of China. He is also an Associate Editor for J. Zhejiang Univ-Sci. A. He was awarded the State Natural Science Prize in 2013 and 5 prizes in Natural Science and Technology from government of Zhejiang Province or Ministry of Education of China.
