Professor HSIAO, obtained her Ph.D. Degree from Columbia University in 1985, is an expert in cancer molecular biology, Wnt and MAPK signaling, with recent research focus on anti-cancer, cancer preventive, anti-inflammatory and anti-hyperlipidemia herbal medicines. She has published more than 80 articles in major journals including Science, Nature, Cell, Molecular Cellular Biology, Oncogene, Cancer Research, Clinical Cancer Research, Carcinogenesis, J Pathology, J Natural Products, Planta Medica. Currently, she is carrying out several major research projects in her laboratory, including an Area of Excellence Project on Nasopharyngeal Cancer Research; a Collaborative Research Project on searching biomarkers for evidence-based Chinese medicines using modern technology; and General Research Grants working on the effects a medicinal herb against cancer, cholaterols and modulating gut microflora. She was awarded with few ITF projects, one of which is to develop a candidate anti-cancer drug from snake venom in collaboration with a pharmaceutical company. Prof. Hsiao holds patents in US, Europe and China. In addition to her effort in Cancer and TCM research, she has also devoted a major fraction of her time in promoting TCM education.
