Duncan Wagstaff

Duncan is a consultant anaesthetist and Principal Clinical Research Fellow at the Centre for Perioperative Medicine at University College London. He uses mixed methods to explore quality improvement, trial recruitment, global health and health inequalities in perioperative care. His PhD thesis used mixed-methods to evaluate how the national Perioperative Quality Improvement Programme supported local improvement in the UK. He is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow with the Wellcome funded Collaboration for Research, Implementation and Training in Critical Care Asia & Africa (CCAA) to support the implementation and evaluation of quality improvement in a network of poorer resourced healthcare settings. Duncan completed his first degree in Natural Sciences (Physics) at Cambridge University, worked as a credit derivatives trader in London and Toronto, and later studied graduate entry medicine at Oxford University.
