The lower Trinity River in Texas flows 180 river kilometers from Livingston Dam to Trinity Bay. Like many sandy coastal rivers this river is geomorphically active. The river exhibits three styles of channel geometry and behavior. Studying the connections and transitions between these three river zones will provide us with a more complete understanding of the relationships between channel geometry and profile, the lateral migration of the channel, and sediment transport in this coastal river.
