Victoria Gonzalez Carman

My experience focused on the marine environment, in particular on relevant aspects of the trophic and spatial ecology of large vertebrate species, known as megafauna. My approach to these aspects is mostly from a biological perspective, but also I am exploring the social, political and economic contexts that frame biodiversity conservation issues. My aim is to deepen into the knowledge of the species ecology to inform decision-making of management and conservation, but also to explore the internal and external social conditions that allow certain human practices of use and exploitation to be legitimized, going beyond the mere proposal of technical solutions and inquiring into the philosophical and cultural roots of these practices.
