Leading a research group at Spain's global public health centre of excellence, the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), that is working at the interface of health systems and communicable diseases - with a particular focus on viral hepatitis and HIV. Chair of The Lancet HIV Fourth 90 Commission and working group chair of the EASL-Lancet European Liver Health Commission. Recognised for launching the "Fourth 90" in HIV and the "micro-elimination" approach in HCV.
