I am a scientist and lecturer with broad contrasted experience in the fields of Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, Human Physiology and Neuroscience with extensive experience in Biomedical Research. I have more than 15 years-experience in research working at top institutions worldwide (University of Texas Medical Branch, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, NY) and in Spain (CIB, CSIC and San Pablo CEU University). I have published 29 research papers, 13 of them as reference author, in international peer-reviewed journals. All of them in the WOS, 23 in Q1. Considering the WOS, I have received more than 700 citations, with an h coefficient of 15. I have teaching experience at San Pablo CEU University (Madrid, Spain) in Physiology and Neuroscience, PhD, and MSc students’ scientific supervision. I have successfully participated in the application of both public and private funds, project management, and organizing science outreach activities. An overarching feature in my career has been studies of alterations in the main cellular pathways involve in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases and cancer using genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry assays. One of the main approaches that has characterized most of my scientific contributions has been the state-of-the-art of alterations in B-lymphocytes from patients with neurological diseases. These approaches have allowed me establishing a number on international and interdisciplinary collaborations leading to several publication both as first author and/or collaborator. Currently I am applying my knowledge in B-lymphocytes, neuroscience, and genetics in the context of immune response and neurological degeneration. Multiple Sclerosis is a neurodegenerative disease associated with an autoimmune response. Studying how B lymphocytes mediate the neurological damage and identifying molecular features of their activity in the context of this disease open a myriad of potential therapeutic approaches. I am especially interested in the characterization of the B lymphocyte populations present in multiple sclerosis patients, understanding their physiology and behaviour can lead us to the design and development of new molecules directed to their targeting and manipulation in vivo. Combining in vitro and in vivo approaches with the input of the clinicians constitute a strong basis for the development of a long-termed approach with a strong potential.
