Thyago Proença de Moraes is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine and head of Nephrology at Pontificia Universidade Católica do Paraná, Curitiba, Brazil, Co-Chair of the Adequacy and Ultrafiltration workgroup of the PDDOPPS, co-chair of the PD committee of the SLANH (Latin American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension), Coordinator of the Brazilian Peritoneal Dialysis Multicenter Study (BRAZPD) and coordinator of the PD-MONDO. In 2010, he was awarded with a motion of public recognition for services rendered on behalf of the population in the prevention and treatment of kidney disease by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Paraná. In 2012 and 2018, he was granted with a Young Investigator Award at the 14th and 17th Congress of the ISPD. He is a member of the editorial board of Peritoneal Dialysis International and co-editor in chief of the Brazilian Journal of Nephrology. His main research activities are focused on peritoneal dialysis, particularly in carbohydrate and lipids disturbances, cardiovascular disease, inflammation and glucose-spared peritoneal dialysis solutions.
