Dr. Roth is a leading expert in the field of sleep medicine, and has served as President of the Sleep Research Society, Founding President of the National Sleep Foundation, Chairman of the National Center on Sleep Disorders Research Advisory Board of the National Institute of Health, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, where he also served as the first chair of the Association’s Scientific Program Committee. He served on the governing board of the World Federation of Sleep Research Societies and served as its program chair. Dr. Roth was instrumental in the formation of the Association of Sleep Disorders Center and served as the organization’s second president. In addition, he is the former chairman of the World Health Organization’s worldwide project on sleep and health.
