Our research interest is the structure-property relationships of materials. Paving the way for the “Materials Design” is our aim. For the purpose, we are using microscopy, spectroscopy, calculation, and informatics techniques. We are doing
following researches:
1. Basics and Applications of “Ultimate Analysis”
Since electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) observed by scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) can achieve the atomic and electronic structure analysis of single atomic column, STEM-EELS has been known as “The Ultimate Analysis”. We are doing theoretical and experimental studies of EELS and applying this “Ultimate analysis” for materials science.
2. Formation, dynamics, and prediction of lattice defect
Lattice defects, such as vacancy, impurity, dislocation, and interface, play crucial role for the materials properties.
We are investigating their atomic arrangement and chemical bonding using atomic reoslution microscopy, spectroscopy, theretical calculation, and informatics techniques.
