Research areas:
A biological activity prognosis of novel plant and synthetic compounds by PASS software. A pharmacological screening of new synthetic and plant compounds in silico, in vitro, ex vivo , in vivo, Toxicity evaluation of new compounds. A pre-clinical research.
Major scientific areas:
Chemistry of plant metabolites. Medicinal chemistry. Examination of pharmacological properties and mechanism of action of new drug candidates of plant and synthetic origin. The examination of pharmacological properties and mechanism of action of the new drug agents derived by supramolecular complexation of the conventional drugs with glycosides and polysaccharides. The development the natural and semisynthetic agents with multifunctional activity for chemoprevention and correction of anticancer chemotherapy. The examination in vivo of compounds that affect central nervous system. The examination in vivo and ex vivo of compounds that affect cardiovascular system. A toxico-pharmacological study of nanomaterials.
Specialist in the experimental pharmacology, physiology, nanobiotechnology and drug development. Author and co-author of 700 scientific works including 4 monographs, 340 articles and 100 patents.
Tolstikova T.G. has 17 PhD and 4 Professor among her students.
The main scientific results:
Evaluated more than 2000 novel compounds – low molecular plant metabolites, their derivatives and synthetic compounds, found out perspective opioid analgesics, antidepressants, nootropics, anxiolytics, hepatoprotectors, correctors of cytostatic's toxic effects, antihypertensives, antiarrhythmics, antiulcer agents, anti-inflammatory agents, antioxidants, radiopaque contrast agents for MR tomography and nanoaerosol forms of drugs.
Moreover, pharmacological properties of novel supramolecular complexes with plant metabolites were studied. On the basis of this effect a new general approach to the development of nanodrugs was discovered. Such complexes ensure directed drug delivery, reduction of dose and toxic side effects.
