Syed ul Hasnain Bakhtiar earned his double Master's degrees, MSc and MPhil, in Inorganic Chemistry from Hazara University, Pakistan, in 2011 and 2013, respectively. He then joined the Nanoscience and Catalysis Division at the National Center for Physics Islamabad in 2014 as a researcher and researched the functionalization of magnetic metal oxide nanoparticles for drug delivery.
Funded by the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), he joined the group of Professor Yujun Zhu at Heilongjiang University, China to work on Zeolite technology for Methanol to Olefin conversion. After completing his Ph.D. in 2019, he joined the State Key Laboratory for Materials Synthesis and Processing at Wuhan University of Science and Technology as a Post-Doctoral researcher. His research focuses on the fabrication of multipurpose catalysts for fine chemical reactions like hydrogenation, MTO conversion, and photocatalysis.
He holds a Post-Doctorate position at the School of Integrated Circuits at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China and working on the Functional ceramics for energy storage applications in Professor Qiuyun Fu's group. He also has collaborative projects with the Wuhan National Laboratory of Optoelectronics (WNLO) and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) with Professor Qiao Liang's group. He is actively engaged in several research projects, i.e., Methanol to olefin (MTO) conversion, Photocatalysis (HER, OER, CRR, and dye degradation), and fabrication of Functional Ceramics for energy applications, with a side project of DFT-based first principal approaches.
Dr. Hasnain has authored numerous publications, including contributions to journals such as, Materials Today, Applied Catalysis B, Advanced Science, Crystal Growth and Design, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Environmental Research, and Dalton Transactions.
