Stephen Horst

Stephen J. Horst received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA, and the Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, USA. He is currently serving as an Architecture and the Technology Lead for phase I of the SDC mission architecture study. He has spent the past ten years at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory working on technology and engineering for repeat-pass interferometry using synthetic aperture radar via the NISAR mission and is familiar with the thermal challenges facing such systems as the lead designer for the NISAR transmit/receive modules. Dr. Horst is a recipient of the 2020 NASA Honor Award for applying radar electronics technologies to NASA future mission concepts.
