Silva Hecimovic

Silva Hecimovic currently works at the Division of Molecular Medicine, Ruđer Boskovic Institute. Silva is a head of the Laboratory for Neurodegenerative Disease Research. Silva does research in Human Biology, Neuroscience and Cell Biology. Their current project "Molecular mechanism(s) of neurodegeneration in Niemann-Pick type C disease" is funded by the Croatian Science foundation. Silva and her team are interested to identify common and specific pathways that lead to neurodegeneration and/or neuroinflammation. Currently, they are investigating the molecular details of neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation, and the interconnection between the two in a rare inherited Niemann-Pick type C disease and the most common and complex Alzheimer's disease.
